Take a few minutes to read through our model's F.A.Q.s. You'll find out pretty much everything a model needs to know about this project. If you have any questions, feel free to use the contact form at the bottom of the page. When you are ready to apply, complete the Model Application.
What's the compensation package?
This project is TFP, as it is known in the trade. For those not familiar, this means trade-for-print. No cash/currency is transacted. However, the real value is the opportunity to appear on a calendar and the $2,000.00+ in products & services you will receive. This is an ideal way to add to or kickstart a modeling portfolio.
- A professional make-up artist & beauty consultant
- 2 - 4 Hour Photo Session On Location
- 3 - Retouched, high-resolution images that you may include in your portfolio or use for personal use. You may print them. However, you are not allowed to sell them.
- 25 - Finished calendars to do with as you please.
- Potential for future paid assignments as a "Girls of Long Island Calendar Girl". We have an interest in events where a sponsor of an event will have a group of calendar girls present to sign calendars. Models will be paid to appear. This is a potential, not to be assumed.
- Calendar girls will be featured on our website and may be booked for future modeling jobs through us.
Why is this such a valuable opportunity?
This project offers far more than a standard photo shoot. Every participating model receives a full package of professional imagery and calendar copies—creating a complete, tangible experience.
Whether featured in the final calendar or in supporting imagery, models gain lasting professional content, real deliverables to keep and share, and the opportunity to be part of a polished, Long Island–focused production built for publication and promotion.
Future opportunities: Models will be promoted to be paid to appear in other sponsored events, appearances, and photo shoots as "Girls of Long Island Swimsuit Calendar Models."
What's the selection process?
We keep it simple, fair, and professional—more like casting for a publication than “who knows who.”

You submit a short application plus a few recent photos (they don’t have to be pro shots—clean, clear, and current is what matters).
-
-
Initial Review

We screen for the basics: look/fit for the brand, comfort level with a swimsuit shoot, reliability, and overall vibe (confident, natural, and tasteful).
-
-
Follow-Up / Quick Interview
-
If you’re a strong match, we’ll reach out for a brief call or message chat to confirm availability, expectations, and answer questions.
-
-
Shortlist + Test Session (when needed)
-
Some models may be invited for a short “test” shoot or a meet-and-greet so we can confirm camera presence and direction/posing comfort.
-
-
Final Selection + Scheduling
-
Final selections are based on a mix of photogenic range, professionalism, availability, variety across the full calendar, and how well you fit specific locations/themes (beach, marina, yacht, etc.).
-
Good to know:
Even if you’re not chosen for one of the 12 calendar months, you may still be selected for additional features, promotional images, digital content, and future editions. The goal is to build a strong roster—not just fill twelve squares on a page.
Image Usage & Model Releases
All participating models will be required to sign a standard Model Release Agreement prior to the shoot. Image rights are retained by the publisher, Studio 9 New York, Inc.
Images may be used for the printed calendar, promotional materials, website, social media, and future related projects.
All imagery will be used in a tasteful, professional manner consistent with this project. No nudity, adult, or explicit content will be created.
When will the shoots be scheduled?
Photographers refer to the "Golden Hour". This is the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset. Most sessions will take place in the mornings, with some sessions closer to sunset. To avoid summer crowds at certain locations, shooting will be done during the week.
What will I be wearing?
You, with our input, will pick out and obtain 2 - 3 swimsuits or outfits. We will confer and discuss your wardrobe prior to your photoshoot. We both need to be comfortable with what you will be wearing to ensure this remains a tasteful publication. Be sure to bring a cover-up, simple accessories, sandals/flip flops, and basic touch-up items.
Do you provide hair and makeup?
Yes, we will have an experienced, certified makeup artist/stylist to do your makeup prior to beginning the shoot.
What locations will I be photographed at, and how are the locations chosen?
We’ll be photographing at a variety of iconic Long Island locations—from Brooklyn all the way out to Montauk. Each model will be featured at 1 location. We choose spots based on landmark status, recognizability, visual impact, and accessibility. Just as important, we consider our models’ ability to realistically get to each location (travel time, parking, and overall ease of arrival), since smooth logistics make for a better shoot. Expect a mix of North Shore and South Shore beach scenes, and in select sessions, power yachts, sailboats, and other classic summer-on-the-water activities. We will try our best to match models to their desired locations and activities, should they have a preference.
Do I need to be able to travel to locations?
Yes, models are responsible for their own transportation. Models must have reliable transportation and the ability to get to assigned locations on time. We will do our best to match models to locations that are most ideal for them. You will be reimbursed for parking where applicable.
How long is a photo shoot.
Our estimate is about 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 hours on site. This time includes your makeup and hair styling.
Who will be at the photoshoot?
The photoshoot staff will include at least the following: The photographer (obviously), a photographer's assistant, and a female, certified make-up artist/stylist. You are more than welcome to bring a friend/chaperone as long as they are respectful of the set and do not interfere.
Can I bring a friend or chaperone?
Yes—one or two people are fine as long as they’re respectful and don’t interfere. Anyone who is disrespectful or intentionally interferes will be asked to leave the set at our discretion. Your guests may NOT take any photos during the session that are not approved. After a brief discussion, they may, at our discretion, take snapshots of the scene that includes the photographer as well as videos for TikTok, etc.
Who is producing this calendar?
Peter M. Budraitis Photography and Studio 9 New York, Inc. Pete Budraitis is the creator and photographer behind Girls of Long Island, a swimsuit calendar and lifestyle series designed to be tasteful, confident, and proudly coastal. With decades of professional portrait experience as a Long Island Portrait Studio owner, Pete builds shoots around great light, strong composition, and a comfortable, respectful set environment. Pete has earned awards in local and international print competitions for his portraiture. The project celebrates summer on Long Island—beaches, boats, and iconic shoreline locations—while creating standout imagery for models and a premium platform for local advertisers.
Where will my images be used?
Calendar, project website, social media, promo materials, and related marketing for this project. At the model's discretion, photos may be made available for commercial use. Under such conditions, models will be compensated accordingly.
Can I post the photos too?
Yes. You can use your images for portfolio and social media (crediting requested).
Where will this calendar be sold or distributed?
The calendar will be FREE! 10,000 copies will be printed and distributed at locations across Long Island. The costs of printing & production will be paid via advertising. Each advertiser will receive copies to distribute from their business, and the balance of the calendars will be distributed to other high-profile locations. Plus, each model will receive at least 25 copies for themself to give out.
What about boats or watercraft?
Some sessions, based on the model's comfort level, may include power yachts/sailboats and summer water activity themes (optional, based on availability).
What if the weather is bad?
You can't fight Mother Nature! In the event of less-than-desirable weather, we will reschedule the shoot. Waterfront shoots must present safe conditions for all.
How do I apply?
Submit the online application with recent photos and basic info. If selected, we’ll follow up with an in-person or virtual meeting to discuss details, concerns, and scheduling.
